Riparian Ecologist
Headwaters Corporation is seeking a motivated, field-oriented scientist to join a team that conducts interdisciplinary research with a focus on implementation of the Platte River Recovery Implementation Program (PRRIP). ​This position will be focused on implementing monitoring and research to assess the relationship between channel morphology and invasive riparian vegetation, specifically Phragmites australis. Other tasks will include working collaboratively with other staff to evaluate the effectiveness of of large-scale sediment augmentation and large-scale flow releases to manage riparian vegetation.

Seasonal Phragmites Technician
Phragmites australis is of particular concern because of its invasive nature and tendency to occupy shorelines and expand rapidly into the river channel. This seasonal technician position will assist with monitoring Phragmites patch expansion in the Associated Habitat Reach of the central Platte between Lexington and Chapman, Nebraska. Responsibilities will include field data collection in a riverine environment, data entry, and data management. Applicants must have a strong desire to be in the field implementing field-based monitoring.

Seasonal Tern and Plover Technician
This position will assist with research related to piping plovers and least terns, and factors that impact their reproductive success along the Central Platte River. Responsibilities include the collection and processing of data obtained from direct observation of the birds in the field and through camera and video monitoring. Successful candidates will be willing to work reviewing camera/video footage in the office as well as working in the field. Field work may be limited and will require successful completion of the Program provided Miner Safety and Health (MSHA) training. Training for all responsibilities will be provided.
